Professional and successful: The cattle breeding farm of the Riegler family.

Two years ago, a new light and air-flooded calf and young cattle barn was built on the Riegler farm. The result: higher milk yield and remarkable breeding success.

    The project at a glance

The Riegler family’s farm is run on a full-time basis. A total of 150 cattle contribute to this, of which 65 are dairy cows. They find their home in a newly built calf and young cattle barn, as well as in a spacious free stall barn with outdoor climate conditions.

When it comes to cattle breeding in Styria, the name Riegler comes up first. The farm in Langenwang is considered a model farm in terms of professional and successful cattle breeding. Since the new construction of the young cattle barn and the modernisation of the existing stables, remarkable successes have been achieved, both in terms of milk yield and breeding. The Riegler cows are represented all the way to the European Show.

The reason for this is the light and air-flooded construction of the stables situated on the slope. The buildings are equipped with windprotection curtains and textile doors all around, as well as in the roof area. By opening and closing flexibly, the systems serve both for ventilation and for shading. Constant air exchange, outdoor climate conditions and plenty of natural daylight promote the health and well-being of the animals and thus increase the profitability of the farm – as proven by numerous awards.
