One barn - six Roll Up Doors
The newly built dairy barn in Lower Bavaria had to fulfil two requirements: healthy and happy animals and easy management. Three Roll Up Doors on both short sides contribute to this.
The project at a glance
The planning of a new barn begins with a series of considerations that are decisive for maintaining the economic viability of the farm: the design of functional areas, the dimensioning of barn space and storage capacities, the ease of management and, last but not least, “structural requirements for particularly animal-friendly husbandry”, which are rewarded with special subsidies.
Areas that can be served by machinery must be accessible. Depending on the frequency of use, it is worthwhile to invest in a fast-running roller shutter. For example, the entrance to the service aisle. Instead, smaller doors with lower running speeds are usually sufficient for mucking out the walking and lying areas.
In the case of this dairy barn in Lower Bavaria, the choice fell on two fast-running Big Rib Roll Up Doors (WST9), which make the feed alley accessible to large machines. Smaller WST7 Rib Roll Up Doors were installed for manure removal.
All gates are made of transparent tarpaulin and let in plenty of daylight.
